Apart from being popular, the reduction in the price of electric car batteries also affects the sustainability of hybrid cars. Considering that electric car batteries are decreasing day by day, of course, this will affect the price of electric cars which will become more affordable.
With the increasingly affordable price of electric cars, consumers can more quickly transition from conventional cars to electric cars without switching to hybrids first.

Coupled with government policies that continue to support electric cars through incentives and subsidies to consumers and producers, the switch to hybrid cars is no longer necessary.
However, on the other hand, several parties feel that hybrid cars will still have an important role in the future. Several factors are taken into consideration by consumers in choosing hybrid cars over electric cars.
One factor is that the price of hybrid cars is more affordable than electric cars. This advantage is of course a lot to consider for consumers who have a limited budget when they want to buy a new car.
“Hybrid cars will remain an attractive choice for consumers who want environmentally friendly vehicles at an affordable price,” said David Bailey, Senior Analyst at Jato Dynamics, as quoted by Forbes.
Hybrid car users also don’t need to worry about charging infrastructure. Remember that hybrid car batteries can be charged when the petrol engine is running. Moreover, currently, electric car charging is not yet massively available in several countries. This is different from hybrid cars which only require petrol, which is widely available, even in developing countries.
“The lack of charging infrastructure for electric cars is still an advantage for hybrid cars,” Sam Abuelsamid, Principal Analyst at Guidehouse Insight, told Reuters.
In terms of development, hybrid car technology can still be improved from what it currently has. With technology continuing to develop, hybrid cars can have improvements in terms of efficiency, performance, and range. If it continues to develop, hybrids may still be sought after by consumers.
Based on the factors above, it is still too early in the future for hybrid cars to confirm their extinction. Electric cars do offer many advantages and have the potential to replace hybrid cars, but hybrid technology still has several advantages as previously mentioned.
In the end, the future of hybrid technology will depend on several factors such as the development of electric car technology, the price of electric car batteries, government policies, and consumer preferences.
